Most BC municipalities require up to three reports: (1) a pre-permit energy model submitted with your building permit, (2) a mid-construction blower door test, and (3) a post-construction compliance report confirming the home meets the required Step. We handle all three and coordinate directly with the permitting authority — one contact for the whole project.
An EnerGuide evaluation is a certified assessment of your home's energy performance by a registered Energy Advisor. It gives your home an official EnerGuide rating and is required to access CleanBC, BC Hydro, CMHC Eco Plus, and Canada Greener Homes rebates. You need to book the pre-retrofit evaluation before work starts, not after.
Many BC homeowners access $8,000–$15,000+ in combined CleanBC and BC Hydro rebates after a retrofit. Homes with significant upgrades — heat pump, insulation, windows — can qualify for considerably more. Call us first and we'll map out exactly what you're likely to qualify for at no charge.
A full existing home EnerGuide evaluation takes 2–3 hours on-site. A blower door test alone takes 1–2 hours. For new construction we often combine the blower door test with thermal imaging in the same visit to keep your build on schedule. Reports are typically delivered within a few business days.
Passive House is a rigorous building standard focused on extremely low energy demand through superior insulation, airtightness, and mechanical ventilation — typically reducing heating energy by up to 90% vs code. Net Zero means the home produces as much energy as it consumes annually, usually through solar. We're qualified to certify both under CHBA Net Zero and Passive House Canada programs.
